KEY STAGE 1

Key Stage 1 comprises of two year groups:

  • Year 1 (Ages 5-6)
  • Year 2 (Ages 6-7)

As the students enter the Key Stage 1 of the Cambridge Curriculum, the literacy and numeracy sessions form part of their daily routine. This is when students begin a more formal approach to their education, having developed the core skills required in the Foundation stage. Key Stage1 develops further in the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, French, ICT. Arabic, Qatar History and Islamic Studies.

Throughout the Key Stage 1, there is an emphasis on teachers and parents working in partnership to address the individual needs of each child and this is encouraged. Regular meetings and an open door policy allows parents to discuss with teachers any issue, which may impact their child’s learning.

We place strong emphasis on the development of the basic skills necessary to be confident, independent learners. A well-planned curriculum, delivered by experienced staff in an ethos of care and support enables the students to emerge confident and self- reliant in their quest for learning.
